The Rhynd Wedding of Ellie & Greg | Scottish Barn Wedding in St Andrews | Scotland Wedding Photographer

Ellinor and Greg's autumnal wedding took place at The Rhynd, one of Scotland's best barn wedding venues located just outside St Andrews in Fife. The venue offered a warm and rustic atmosphere for their Scottish and Swedish guests.

COUPLE'S FAVOURITE WEDDING PHOTOS

The wedding morning began at 10 AM with bridal and groom preparations at a nearby Pine Wood House owned by the groom's family. The groom's sister took care of Ellinor's and the groom's mother's hair and makeup. Ellinor styled her wedding dress with a Tartan Blanket scarf complementing her hair and the autumnal colours, adding a of the decor and florals by Vintage Gathering.

After everyone got ready, the mother of the groom surprised the couple with a vintage automobile to take them from the hotel to the venue. The wedding ceremony was held indoors at The Rhynd barn and conducted by a priest who was a friend of theirs. The barn has a large open space separated in half. The ceremony was held on one side of it, which later was converted to a dance floor, and the chairs are moved to the other half where the reception space was are set up.

It was a perfect Scottish autumn day with auburn leaves and slightly overcast skies. I truly love the colour palette in Scotland at that time of the year. For the bridal portraits they wanted to go to their favourite beach Kinshaldy where they often go running and strolls with their dog. Suddenly the fields turned into woodland, and we drove through an alley that had turned bright orange. There we stopped for some additional couples portraits before returning back to the venue.

The mingle happened in the bar area and we popped outside for some group photos before the sun disappeared. Greg and his sister haven't had a nice photo together since forever and thought of updating the fridge photo that they have hanging. Then there was some inside joke about Greg and his typicality with beer so we had to take one like that for the collection.

Ellinor comes from the West Coast of Sweden, and Greg is Scottish. They met ten years ago while traveling after graduating from high school in Amsterdam. Their wedding brought together Swedish and Scottish guests, blending elements of both cultures. While they mainly stuck to Scottish wedding traditions, they incorporated a few Swedish touches into the reception dinner, such as a stand featuring jars of famous Swedish jelly candy, and they had appointed a toastmadame who is Ellinor’s best friend, in charge of entertainment and coordination of the speeches. The Swedish guests thought I was just a local Scotland wedding photographer, so it was amusing to unexpectedly surprise them by switching the conversation to Swedish, as I am fluent in both languages. The band playing at the venue also made an extra homework by translating some Ceilidh instructions into. Swedish, it was a fun suprise!

The couple chose to have me as their wedding photographer for an 8-hour coverage, which included the cake cutting and the first dance.
